WHAT IS POSE RUNNING?

The Pose Method of Running teaches you how to utilise gravity and ‘free-fall’ whilst maintaining the body’s pose to generate forward movement.  In running, there is only one relavant body position, which we call the Running Pose (S-stance). The Running Pose is a whole body pose, which vertically aligns shoulders, hips and ankles with the support leg, while standing on the ball of the foot.

HOW DOES IT HELP ME RUN FASTER AND FURTHER?

Instead of using muscular energy as propulsion you learn how to fall forward via gravitational torque and the ‘free’ internal force of muscle-tendon elasticity (elastic energy). Using free energy means that ‘pushing off’ is not required and therefore running can be performed with the least energy use.

HOW DOES IT HELP ME RUN INJURY FREE?

By learning to run in the Pose stance you are effectively able to maintain your lean from your centre of mass and land on the ball of the foot underneath your body. This landing is how we achieve less ground reaction. If the landing foot is ahead of your centre of mass this will be the equivalent of braking (sending a lot of impact through your foot, legs, hip and back) as the ground reaction forces are increased!
